Grammar in context
The subjunctive after emotion and necessity
Use it after il faut que, je crains que, bien que, pour que. Formed from the ils-form of the present: ils prennent → que je prenne.
- Il faut que nous partions à sept heures. — We need to leave at seven.
- Bien que ce soit nouveau, cela fonctionne. — Although it is new, it works.
